Late News

14-12-2005:

PZ5 , SURINAME DXPEDITION 2005 WITH PA3EWP AND PA2R WENT QRT AT 16.00Z TODAY.

During the last night on 160 meter we had the best opening of all.
Between 00.30 - 02.00 UTC we logged approx. 70 NA and 1 EU station.
We went to bed for short sleep. Arond 05.00 UTC we were ready for the last greyline
opening to western Europe.

And surprisely the band was open with nice signals.
In more than 3 hours we logged 90 Europeans.
The stronger stations were worked a long time before there greyline and
during the greyline we worked the others.

It was possible to work more but during the QRM from people which are calling
all the time it was impossible to copy weaker signals.
A few of these "aggressive" callers (qrm makers) were not logged at all, we ignored them all the time.

I hope we made a lot of you happy with this new one on top band.

PZ5WP 5078
PZ5PA 6152
PA5PA 160m 443
PZ5C ARRL 10m 785
PZ5C CQ WW CW 6120
PZ5C/P SA092 2400

In total we had approx. 21.000 Qso's in 3 weeks.

13-12-2005:

We have made over 1000 QSO's on 80 meters now and decided to run 30 meters instead. We experienced strange propagation on 30 meters, Russia until Poland behaved normal according greyline but everything East of that dissapeared and instead we worked quit some ZL's at that time. So if you are in the Eastern region of Poland make sure you get up early because we worked whole Europe earlier.

11-12-2005:

Like yesterday there will be one station in the ARRL 10m contest signing PZ5C. The second station will be on the other bands. They will try low band everyday for the last couple of day's....even with the high noise levels. Like this moring they were able to work some EU's again on 160m due to lower noiselevel today ( compared to earlier day's ).

09-12-2005:   Some news from Suriname;

Please don't work dupes, if you worked us before on a band/mode don't work us again even if we
are loud. Give everybody a change to work us, even the weaker stations!!!!!!!!

On 160m we still have receiving problems. We will try to improve the K9AY again.
We already replaced the RX antenna to the front of the house but the noise level is still very high.
This morning no European signals were heard at all. Only a few NA stations were worked. But tomorrow we will be there again on 160/80 and after 160 meter also 40 meter.
Every day we will be on the lower bands, hopefully we will have the same noise level as the first 2 days and work Europeans again.

           Good luck.

The Area

Surinam has an extraordinary ethnic variety deriving from Dutch colonisation, the importation of African slaves and an influx of indentured labourers from India and Indonesia. Its capital is rich with Dutch colonial architecture and there's a well-ordered system of nature parks and reserves.
